Terms of Service.
Plain-English: you own the data you put into Chalkspace. We license the app to you. We can revoke access if you abuse the system, but otherwise we stay out of your way.
1. You and Chalkspace
These terms are between you and Chalkspace. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't sign up.
2. Your account
You're responsible for keeping your password safe and for what happens under your account. Don't share it. If you suspect a breach, change your password (and tell us).
You must be 18 or older to create an account. Chalkspace is a teacher tool. Students do not create accounts.
3. Your content is yours
You own everything you put into Chalkspace: student names, notes, seating charts, photos. We claim no rights to it. You can export or delete everything at any time (see our Privacy Policy).
You give us a limited license to host and serve that data back to you so the service works. That's it.
4. Your responsibilities
- Don't upload content you don't have the right to upload — particularly student data your school district hasn't authorized you to use here.
- Don't try to break the service, abuse other users, or scrape the app at industrial scale.
- Don't use Chalkspace to send spam, harass anyone, or store non-educational material.
5. Plans and billing
The free plan is free to use. We may add reasonable limits (e.g. one classroom on the free tier). Continued use of the service after a change signals that you accept the updated terms.
Paid plans are billed in advance. Cancel any time — you keep access through the end of your paid period, and your account drops to the free tier afterward with no data loss.
Refunds: we're humans. If something genuinely went wrong, email us and we'll work it out.
6. Our responsibilities
We try hard to keep Chalkspace running, but it's software and it can break. The service is provided "as is" without warranties. We don't promise zero downtime or zero data loss — we'll do our best, but backup your important data.
Our liability is limited to the amount you've paid us in the last 12 months. (For the free plan, that means up to $0.)
7. Service changes
We may add features, change pricing, or (rarely) deprecate features. Continued use of the service after any change signals that you accept the updated terms.
If we ever have to shut down the service entirely, we'll announce it well in advance and provide a free export tool. (We don't currently plan to shut down.)
8. Account termination
You can delete your account any time from Profile → Account.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or that we have reason to believe are being used for abuse. We'll try to warn you first unless the situation is urgent (security incident, illegal activity).
9. Disputes
If something goes wrong, email disputes@chalkspace.win. We'll work it out.
